Since we recently found time to activate some of our connections to local artists, we now also find out more and more about independent and more subcultural art spaces. Yesterday there was interesting opening of an art collective called "
Junta" at a "to be sold" garage-like kind of hall in Palermo Hollywood. There were lots of what seemed to us very authentic BA photography, drawings (I especially liked the small drawn rabbit that occured in different painted or photographed locations asking philosophical questions and commenting on scenes). One artist told us that there are around 40 people in the group that consists mainly of friends. They never went to art school and are musicians, desginers etc.
At around 8 p.m. there was a performance where about 8 musicians improvised together with e-guitars, two sets of drums, a ladder and metal objects used as drums, basses, and a small toy piano. They were standing or sitting in different parts of the hall mixing up with the audience, which created an interesting sound pattern. It was Junta's first group exhibition, but watch out for more events to come!
